# User Guide

Day-to-day administration in the Control Plane UI.

The Control Plane UI has three groups in its sidebar:

* **Overview** – the [Dashboard](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/dashboard-and-settings.md), the suite's Home page.
* **Manage** – [Projects](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/projects-and-repositories.md) and [Users](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/users-and-permissions.md).
* **Configure** – [Permissions](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/users-and-permissions.md#granting-a-role), [Secrets](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/secrets.md) and [Settings](/visdom-control-plane/user-guide/dashboard-and-settings.md#settings).

The module rail on the left edge is shared by every Visdom product: Home, Orchestrator, Context Fabric and Tracing, the project switcher, and the gear that opens Settings.

A typical first hour:

1. Sign in with an account that has the `control-plane-admin` realm role.
2. Create a project and add its repositories. Set the repository token and run the connection test.
3. Ask the people who will use the platform to sign in once, so they appear under Users.
4. Grant each of them sign-in access to the products they need, and a role in the project.
5. Open Orchestrator, Context Fabric or Tracing: the project is already there.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.visdom.virtuslab.com/visdom-control-plane/user-guide.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
